Targeted CME to address clinical challenges.

Overview

The first telesymposium series in this broad CME initiative, “Focus on Diagnosis,” briefly reviews recent data on the epidemiology, neurobiology, and prevalence of ADHD, along with common psychiatric comorbidities. The activity then examines the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD in adolescents and adults.

The second telesymposium, “Focus on Treatment,” outlines pharmacologic and psychosocial treatment strategies for adolescent and adult patients with ADHD. Data from recent clinical trials of stimulant and nonstimulant medications will be examined for efficacy and safety, and second-line, off-label use of medications in adolescents and adults with ADHD will be discussed.

The third telesymposium, “Focus on Complex Patients,” offers a discussion of treatment strategies and adjustments that may be necessary for adolescent and adult patients with ADHD who do not respond to standard pharmacotherapy, are nonadherent to treatment, or may need a more intensive individualized multimodal approach.
